Thursday, February 14

you're not perfect, but you're mine and that's enough.

What exactly makes Valentine's Day so special? Is it the roses? The chocolate? The chance for people to show their love and affection for one another?

I'm not going to be part of the people sour graping over the fact that it's hearts day. I'm quite happy that it is actually. For one it amuses me. Seeing people doing something out of the ordinary in your every day life just adds to the color of what makes this day so good. Walking down the street today, you'd see a majority of men holding sweets or stuffed toys, roses being the latter. I even passed a guy holding a bouquet, a heart-shaped box of chocolates and a pink stuffed teddy bear with a look of ecstasy on his face.

Aside from the horde of lovebirds scattered in public, I like the warm and happy vibe these lovebirds are giving out on days like this. It's like Christmas, only sexier (makes sense to me). Even if it's just for a day, a change of routine makes life all the more endearing. It's one of those days where you don't find the working class dully going about their routines with exasperated expressions. It only proves that happiness is contagious, it's in you. That happiness is but a choice for you to make for yourself.

The fourteenth of February is also a chance. A chance could mean anything to anybody. It could be a chance to give back, or a chance to make amends. However you take it, everyone gets a chance to do something they most likely wouldn't have the initiative or motivation to do on a normal day. Most of all, whether or not you consider today to be Valentine's Day or Thursday, you get a chance to love everybody you need to as well.

Take a little time to observe. You don't need to have a partner, a special someone, or anything in particular to enjoy today. Valentine's Day is for everybody. You can wallow in your sadness, you can be bitter, but wouldn't it be better to be happy instead?

Love yourself. Happy Valentine's Day.
